An old logbook lying open on a wooden table, its pages printed with faint chart lines. On the left page, the original Harbour Pilot mark with the HP monogram, captioned “Dalle origini”; on the right, the Harbour Pilot Originals badge, captioned “A una nuova identità”. A pair of brass dividers rests at the edge.

The past is the key of the present

The mark

The same course. New horizons.

Since 2012, Harbour Pilot has told the story of a bond with the sea and the pride of a profession. Today that story takes a new form: Harbour Pilot Originals.

Requests reaching us from abroad to use our logo pushed us to make our identity clearer and easier to recognise — a symbol able to speak beyond any border.

In the new mark, every element means something. The H, the initial of Harbour Pilot, merges with the pilot launch seen head-on: the name and the trade become a single sign. It is the boat that goes out with us every day, the link between the land and the ships, the concrete symbol of our world.

ORIGINALS stands for the authenticity of a brand born from the experience of people who live the sea. EST. 2012 holds our origins, and remembers where the voyage began.

The new mark gathers this story and carries it forward: an identity that brings together belonging, tradition and new horizons.

Three generations
on the bridge

Some legacies are not written; they are navigated. Both my father and grandfather were harbour pilots in Genoa, Italy, and I am incredibly proud to be the third generation in my family doing this demanding job.

Fueled by a deep childhood passion, my path was clear: I spent early summers navigating ships and studied hard to achieve my only dream of following in their footsteps.

Two hundred
shirts

I never intended to create a fashion brand. But because the vital, high-stakes work of a harbour pilot happens entirely out of the public eye, I wanted to create meaningful awareness for our hidden world and share my lifelong passion. Apparel simply became the perfect canvas to tell this story.

What began as a simple experiment, selling exactly 200 shirts from home, quickly grew into a larger movement. In 2012, I officially registered the logo and opened a retail shop in Ravenna.

From inside the wheelhouse, rain on the glass: the pilot boat's foredeck, the letters PIL of the word PILOTA on the deck, and a wave breaking white over the starboard rail under a grey sky.

The graphics

Words from
the bridge

Every graphic I design has been rooted in absolute authenticity, featuring adrenaline-laced phrases spoken daily on the bridges of ships to guide massive commercial vessels safely into port.
